White's Ferry Road Church of Christ

3201 N 7th Street
318-396-6000

History:

A Heritage of Love and Faith. Every church begins as a dream in the hearts and minds of people. Out of such hearts and minds White’s Ferry Road became a reality in March of 1958. With some 78 in attendance that first Sunday morning, including 40 former members of the Slack Street church in West Monroe, a new church was born. A committee consisting of Adrian Brashiers, R.F. Downey, Tommy Goyne, Quinton Hollis, Alton Howard and Leo Walsworth had planned the original building. It consisted of an auditorium that seated 350 and eight classrooms.

In the ensuing years spiritual and numerical growth have steadily continued. Thus, WFR has undergone six building expansions. Average attendance today is in the 700’s and growing. Our commitment is to respect and build upon the great heritage we have received from the previous generations of bridge builders among us.

WFR is not about bricks and mortar, but people and their needs. While building expansions reflect a rich heritage of continued growth in numbers, the greater reflection is that of the image of Christ ever increasing in the hearts and lives of the people who have come to this place.
