Effective immediately, the scope of the Recreation Commission has been expanded by the Town Board to work on behalf of the Town to promote, educate and bring cultural events to Wheatland.

The Wheatland Recreation Commission has been officially changed to the Wheatland Recreation and Cultural commission. As such, the Commission's role has grown to include the following:
• Advise the Town Board on cultural events and other lesiure time activities.
• Promote public appreciation of Arts in Wheatland.
• Collaborate with County and State Cultural Organizations.
• Coordinate functions and events in Wheatland.
• Suggest marketing and promotion for the Arts.
• Work with local artists to promote the Town's cultural assets.

Goals:
1. Continue to operate efficiently and effectively.
    • Communications with Town Board: Monthly Summary Report.
2. Continue to improve existing program execution and administration.
    • Pre-prepared program proposals for review by the Commission.
    • Program Reports completed and reviewed by the Commission.
    • Archival of approved program proposals and reports.
    • Public Relations: articles, photographs, advertisements, update Website
      with current program information. Establish newsletter, published at least
      twice a year.
    • Establish and utilize on-line forms for program registration.
    • Utilize an electronic database for maintaining program participant
       registration information (including e-mail addresses for program
       notification).
    • Re-instate contact between program leaders/support personnel and
      Commission members.
    • Accurate and timely tracking of program expenses and revenue.
3. Maintain a complete and accurate equipment inventory.
    • Review what is owned, location, value, safety assessment.
4. Develop and execute near term program expansion strategy.
    • Continue to look for opportunities regarding use of Mumford Community
       Building.
    • Communicate with other organizations (Seniors, other towns, Adult
      Education, Villages of Mumford and Scottsville).
5. Develop long term Wheatland Recreation vision and begin execution.
    • Integrated with town Master Plan.
    • Involve non-traditional age groups (seniors, pre-school, youth).
    • Includes sports fields and other facilities for activities.
