The Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (WACC) is a group of over 300 businesses working for the prosperity of the Waupaca, Wisconsin area. The origins of the Waupaca chamber can be traced back to the early 1920's. In the 1930's, the association began promotion of the Waupaca Chain of Lakes as a way to perk up the local economy, hard hit by the Great Depression. The Waupaca Association of Commerce amended its constitution to become the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce in 1967.

The WACC is governed by a 15-member board that meets on the first Wednesday of each month at the Chamber Building, 221 South Main Street. The directors hire a full-time President. Other members of the staff include a Communications Director, Operations Director and three Information Services Assistants. Additional office staff is hired during the busiest seasons: Memorial Day through Labor Day and the month of December. The Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce is a member of: the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, and the Waupaca County Visitor and Promotional Council.
Any civic-minded person or group can join the WACC by investing in a membership. Present members include about 65 percent of the business and professional people in our community.

About 40 percent of the WACC budget comes from member dues. A minimum dues and fair share schedule determines dues levels. An additional 12 percent is acquired through the City of Waupaca room tax and used for tourism advertising. Festivals and other WACC-sponsored events provide 29 percent of the budgeted money and 19 percent is other income.
