About us

Red Feather Lakes is a great place to get away. For just a day, or for a week! Red Feather Lakes is a rustic mountain village nestled in the majestic Northern Colorado Rockies - a wonderful place for your outdoor adventure!

This area was first settled in the mid-1800's by loggers and ranchers. Occasionally a deserted homestead can be seen at the edge of a meadow or half hidden in the aspen and pine forest. The village was developed in the 1920's when the automobile began to make once isolated mountain areas easily accessible.

The dozen or so shops and cafes provide residents and our visitors all of the necessities of city life without the crowds, noise, traffic and stress of the city.

The village is surrounded by the 612,000 acre Roosevelt National Forest with its sparkling streams, lush mountain meadows and stately peaks. Expect to see beautiful scenery, deer, elk, and the occasional bighorn sheep or maybe even moose!

There is camping in the forest, and a variety of lodgings, both rustic and moder in the, village and nearby.

Red Feather Lakes invites you to enjoy the unrivaled old fashioned hospitality that makes this area such a local favorite.

Red Feather Lakes is easily accessible through the city of Fort Collins, a very vibrant and progressive metropolis and home of Colorado State University. A vacation visit to our area will give you the best of both worlds! We are only a two hour drive from Denver International Airport.
