The Village of Kewaskum is located in southeastern Wisconsin in Washington County.The Village of Kewaskum is known as the "Gateway to the Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest" and provides a scenic, restful setting along the Milwaukee River. The Village was founded by Jesse H. Myers in 1852. The Village was named for Chief Kewaskum or Metowan, of the Potawatomi tribe, whose name means "the turner," or "his tracks are toward home." The name was chosen by Jesse Myers because Chief Kewaskum made his camp in this area.
