United Church of Christ

11 West Main Street
607-334-3434

The United Church of Christ embraces a theological heritage that affirms the Bible as the authoritative witness to the Word of God, the creeds of the ecumenical councils, and the confessions of the Reformation.  The UCC has roots in 'covenantal' tradition.  Christ alone is Head of the church.  We seek a balance between freedom of conscience and accountability to the apostolic faith.  The UCC receives the historic creeds and confessions of our ancestors as testimonies, not tests.

We are committed to listen for God's Word in Holy Scripture, in our rich heritage, in faithful witness, and in the fresh winds of the Holy Spirit so that we might discover God's way for us.

We are committed to be a church for all people and, in Christ, to celebrate, affirm and embrace the rich diversity of God's good creation.

We are committed to be a church of justice and mercy and peace, witnessing to God's love, so that lives may be renewed, spirits revived, and worlds transformed.

We are committed to strengthen Christ's Church through renewed resolve and mutual support in our common ministries.
