Two Rivers Bluegrass Festival

4191 High School Road, Highway 57

History:

The Two Rivers Festival began in 1996 as a county fair and forestry expo at the new Greene County Rural Events Center. The three day festival included a fiddle and banjo contest which quickly became a favorite among the crowd. A group of festival supporters then realized the potential for a bluegrass festival for the county. Many hoped that a bluegrass festival would draw people to Greene County not only for the music but also for the other little-known attractions in the county. After months of patience and hard work, the bluegrass festival was born. In 1998 the "Two Rivers Festival" became the "Two Rivers Bluegrass Festival."

Today, the Two Rivers Bluegrass Festival has become an annual favorite among not only the people of Greene County but also throughout the bluegrass circuit. With its down-home atmosphere, it has become known to many festival attendees as a "coming home" experience. The atmosphere reflected through the decor of an old homestead beckons all to "take off their shoes, throw 'em in a corner, stay all week, stay even longer."

Thanks to a grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission, the festival now includes national recording artists as well as new talents in the bluegrass field. The festival covers 5 days and includes heritage tours throughout Greene County, workshops, a forestry expo, and many other fun activities such as the "Hillbilly Contest" and "Ole Fashion Barn Dancin'."

The Two Rivers Bluegrass Festival now draws campers from 20+ states and approximately 60 Mississippi counties. Most of these campers return each year for a week of fellowship with old friends and to meet new ones.
