Trade Days Festival

PO Box 100
423-727-3007

Trade Days began in 1989 as a means to develop a community center and park for area residents. Trade Days celebrates our northeast Tennessee culture. Arts, crafts, and exhibits represent the best of Appalachian life, both past and present. Eighteen years later it is growing and expanding to make the festival more interesting for residents and visitors alike. Profits from the festival go to improve and expand the Trade Community Center and Park. Today, the festival lasts for three days. As one committee member said, "Trade Days doesn't just happen for the three days in June."

It takes a lot of time and effort to make Trade Days happen. Committee members and the president, Doug McFadden, work year round planning a variety of events to raise money for the Community Center and Park. Other times the Trade Days Committee donates time and money for local service projects.

Over the past years proceeds go for improvements in the park and community center. Proceeds from Trade Days 2002 financed new playground items and new bathrooms. During the spring of 2003, we were also able to have a new bridge built so entertainers could enter and park close to the stage! From the 2004 proceeds, we were able to pave part of the walkway in the park and place a thick layer of gravel on the rest.
