About Us

Rush is a rural community with both wide-open spaces and wooded areas. Rush is a closley knit community with activities for the whole family. The Town of Rush posseses a unique rural character among the nineteen towns which comprise Monroe County, New York. Rush is predominantly a surburban, commuter community of the Greater Rochester Area. Rush offers convenient access to jobs, shopping, and services throughout the metropolitan area, while keeping its serene, safe, small town qualities intact. With its rolling hills and quaint village, Rush is regarded by many as a diamond in the rough, perhaps Southern Monroe County's best kept secret!

The Town of Rush was named and established by the State Legislature on March 13, 1818. Some have claimed that Rush was named for the rushes that grew so thickly along its waterways, others say that it was Richard Rush, an American Statesman.
