Town of Hinesburg

10632 VT Route 116
802-482-2281

About Us:

Our beautiful small town is in northwestern Vermont, nestled against the edge of the Green Mountains about 15 miles southeast of Burlington and about 10 east of Lake Champlain.

Hinesburg Here is our village with the Green Mountains to the east (above), and our historic Town Hall right on Main Street (right).

Chartered in 1762, Hinesburg's history is rooted in farming and early water-powered manufacturing. Today, the village is still surrounded by open green farmland along the small LaPlatte River, a relatively small town among the growing suburbs around Burlington. About 6 miles square, the western half is in the Champlain Valley, the eastern half in the foothills up to 1700 feet in elevation.

The village contains State Highway 116 running north/south, a lively array of stores and services, the local elementary/middle school (presently being renovated and expanded) and local 4-town union high school, 4 churches, a newly expanded library, senior housing, and a number of manufacturing concerns. Lake Iroquois in the hills offers a public beach and boat access, and several parks and recreation facilities offer year-round activities.
