Historic Town of Dallas

Located in the heart of Gaston County in North Carolina's Piedmont region, Dallas has the best of all worlds! A family oriented, quiet town it is close to numerous big city amenities. Old folklore tells of a popular saying that - "All roads lead to Dallas". A small, residential town, Dallas is approximately three miles north of the City of Gastonia, and within 20-miles northwest of the Queen City of Charlotte.

Positioned for future growth though annexation and approved subdivisions, Dallas has recently extended its corporate limits. Dallas places a high priority on our commitment to the preservation of its vast, interesting historic past. Named after George Mifflin Dallas, the 11th Vice President of the United States, Dallas was officially incorporated in 1863.

When the Town served as the County seat from 1846 until 1911, it was a thriving hub of government and business activity. A place where the reckless driving of your horse might cost you a $2.00 fine, the founders had great appreciation for culture; higher education; the law and the judicial system.

Everybody loves a winner! From university system's president William C. Friday, to a poet laureate, a wake boarder, to Duane Ross 100-meter hurdle Olympic contender Dallas is a good solid community on the verge of positive growth. This past fiscal year, Dallas had the honor to win every grant it had applied for to enhance its operations, business development, and community developments efforts: The Town's award winning departments include: Dallas Parks and Recreation Dept, Public Works Dept, Police Dept, Fire Dept., and several citizens in the community were awarded grants.
