Mission

The Mission of the First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank is attract people so that they will learn about Jesus, and by the Grace of God, accept him as lord and savior, becoming part of Christ's family, helping them to grow in faith and unity, equipping them to serve him in the church and beyond.

History

The First Presbyterian Church started in the Red Bank community on June 8, 1852, with 27 members and no building of its own. In 1856 the first church building was erected at Broad and Wallace Streets, then the center of Red Bank. In 1912 the growing congregation moved to a new church building at Broad Street and Reckless Place, the present site of a bank.

In 1948, the congregation purchased our 10-acre site on the Hill at Harding Road and Prospect Avenue. The sanctuary and chapel were dedicated in 1952. The fellowship hall, called Webster Hall, and the educational wing were built in 1959.

The original sanctuary was enlarged in 1966 to accommodate our ever-expanding membership. Administrative offices and the Pastor's study were updated in 1996. Today our soaring church steeple serves the entire community as a reassuring symbol of faith, love, and peace and is visible across the landscape and from the many waterways of the area.
