The Roving Nature Center at Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary

7 Rockaway Rd
908-439-1201

The Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary (WWS) strives to promote environmental education and to preserve the natural wonders of Tewksbury Township and the surrounding areas.

The 180-acre sanctuary was bequeathed to Tewksbury Township by Helen A. Whittemore. The facility includes The Roving Nature Center and 11 miles of trails for hiking, dog walking and horseback riding. Trails traverse mainly wooded areas with wetlands, ravines and hilly terrain. The sanctuary also serves as the perfect stage for birders and nature lovers to view local avian species and other wildlife. The Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary is open to the public Monday –Sunday during daylight hours. Please respect nature and take all trash and dog waste back out with you.

Programs offered at the Sanctuary include but are not limited to: summer nature day camps, maple sugaring, year-round public programs, in-school programs and school field trips, children's garden quilt, birthday parties and scouting programs.Contact Us to schedule your trip, party or program!
