History:

First Baptist Church of Monrovia began as a mission effort by Oak grove Baptist church in Benton, Arkansas.  On April 8, 1973, eight people met at Green Valley Elementary School in Monrovia, MD for the purpose of begining a new church.  the current property was purchased in December 1973 and the building was completed in 1977.  in 1979 the name of the church was changed to The First Baptist church of Green Valley.

First Baptist church of Green Valley is an independant church in the fellowship with the Mid-Atlantic Batist Assiciation and the American Baptist Association (offices in Texarkana, TX).  through the years, the church has been actively involved in mission work and in led the formation of First Baptist church of Sharpsburg in Keedysville, MD.  The church also sponsors and hosts Mid-Atlantic Baptists Schools, which serves as the Bible Institute for the churches of the Mid-Atlantic Baptist Association.  The school, which meets on Tuesday evenings, affords an opportunity for students to receive a Bible education and continue to serve churches in the local area.
