History

In 1932, two men with a burden for the hurting and the lost  came to Hamburg and began a street ministry.  By 1936, the seeds that Brother Sparks and Brother Tubbs planted had blossomed into a growing body of believers who began worshipping together in a rented building on Peach Alley.

God began to stir within the hearts of this group of believers a desire for a permanent place of worship for their growing church.  And so it began, in the midst of World War II, when building materials were next to impossible to procure, the Lord provided miraculously, time and time again until at last in 1945 the cornerstone of the building located at 213 N. 4th Street was laid.  And so, First Assembly of God began. In 1962 our parsonage was added and in 1983 renovations were made to accommodate the growth of our pastoral family.  In 1992 we purchased the former Evangelical Congregational Church across the alley and in 1996 the Sonshine Nursery School was opened in that facility.

In January of 2004 we moved to our present facility. Throughout these many changes, God’s hand has been leading us all the way!  His Spirit has faithfully prepared us and brought us to the place we are today, preparing us for a vital ministry in the lives of the hurting and the lost.

We are a church committed to Developing Fully Devoted Followers of Jesus Christ.  To better express our heartbeat as a fellowship, we changed the name of our body to something that more clearly portrayed our Mission and Purpose in the community and the world. Thus in 2007 First Assembly of God became, THE BRIDGE CHURCH!

It is a privilege to serve the Lord by serving you!  Won’t you come and be a part of what God is doing here at The Bridge!!
