Over 80 years ago, Temple Beth El was a little room and a big dream.   At that time, many of the young adults of the 400 Jewish Families in Allentown established a new Temple dedicated to the principles of the Conservative Movement then developing in the United States.

On June 4th, 1919, those founders elected a president and called themselves Temple Beth El. Their first services were held in a room, gradually moving into a hall, and finally to a private home which they remodeled to make it fit as a Temple.

Temple Beth El has continued to grow and thrive because of a committed membership which shares the determination of the founders.
As we approached the new millennium, we found that we needed a new building to better serve our needs.  As a result of the dedication of our entire congregation, 2006 marked a new era for the Temple Beth El family as we moved into our new home.

As an affiliate of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, the congregation maintains the rich heritage and tradition of Judaism interpreted in the light of modern thought.
