History:

Sun City Bible Church started with a small group of believers who gathered for prayer and consideration of a new church. On October 8, 1967, 53 people attended the first service held in the North Town Hall, with Dr. Raymond Bach, pastor of Orange Villa Bible Church, preaching. Three months later Rev. Herbert Fox was called as interim pastor. Under his ministry, the S.C.B.C. was officially organized. There were 18 charter members, of whom one is still living: Mrs. Otto (Janet) Rienstra (presently active).

The constitution & by-laws were incorporated and the church was officially organized on June 10, 1968. Rev. Ted Bornschlegel became the interim pastor on April 4, 1971, until the calling of Rev. Claude Parkhill to be pastor on November 1, 1972.

On July 25, 1980, groundbreaking ceremonies were held for the multipurpose fellowship hall. Construction of the building was accomplished almost entirely by church members. The first service was held there on June 21, 1981. The entire cost of $160,000 was paid off within a year.

On November 1, 1984, Rev. William Carne was called to be associate pastor. Pastor Parkhill retired on December 31, 1985, becoming the visitation pastor, and Pastor Carne was appointed Senior Pastor. During this period, the church approved the construction of the second building, which included offices for the pastors and secretary, a meeting room and additional rest rooms. Rev. Harold Johnston was appointed visitation pastor in January 1987, and assistant pastor in May 1989.

Construction of the present worship center, which provides seating for 440 people, a library, offices and conference rooms began in May 1990. A Dedication Service was held February 1991. In 1998 Pastor Johnston retired and was succeeded by Rev. Ernest Withrow.

In 2001 the multiple-purpose room and kitchen were expanded to their current size and gives us space for large meetings, conferences and receptions.

In 2003, Rev. Bob King became senior pastor/teacher and was joined that same year by visitation pastor Lee Elam.
