St. Joseph's Indian School

St. Joseph's Indian School

Located on the Missouri River in Chamberlain, South Dakota, St. Joseph's Indian School serves as a "home-away-from-away" for Lakota (Sioux) boys and girls in grades one through 12 from around South Dakota.

Native American children come to St. Joseph's in search of a brighter future.

We provide more than just an education. Lakota children live on our Chamberlain campus ... Here, they learn about Lakota culture and heritage. They learn the Lakota language and participate in a variety of clubs.

Even more, the American Indian children in our care learn to thrive in a safe environment. We offer each child individual attention to grow emotionally and spiritually. St. Joseph's is not supported through government or tribal funds; Lakota children have a home here only because of private donations. All of our services are free.
