Souderton Mennonite Church

105 West Chestnut Street
215-723-3088

Our Story:

Souderton Mennonite Church (SMC) has been a congregation on the corner of Chestnut Street and Wile Avenue for more than 130 years. Founded by members of the Franconia Mennonite Conference in 1879, the leaders and members of SMC are committed to God, their community, and each other in Christian love. We desire to live out the transforming love of God.

  • From the beginning of the Mennonite Church in 1525 through to the present, Mennonites have pursued a dream:

  • That it is reasonable to follow Christ daily, radically, totally in life.

  • That it is practical to obey the Sermon on the Mount, and the whole New Testament, literally, honestly, and sacrificially.

  • That it is thinkable to practice the way of reconciling love in human conflicts and warfare, non-defensively and nonresistantly.

  • That it is possible to confess Jesus as Lord above all nationalism, racism, or materialism.

  • That it is feasible to build a communal church of brothers and sisters who are voluntary disciplined, and mutually committed to each other in Christ.

  • That life can be lived simply, following the Jesus way in lifestyle, in possessions, and in service.
