The Smethport Area Chamber of Commerce has grown greatly since the Sesquicentennial Celebration in 2003. As a result, the organization is stretching to amend its organizational structure to compliment this growth, and enhance the town and business community.

The organization is currently developing outreach programs to aim at local business and area leadership. Of key importance is teaching the community the value of the internet in increasing its sales and services as tourists to the community increases in frequency, and as the community infrastructure grows to accommodate these visitors.

The Chamber’s committee, Pennsylvania’s First Route 6 Heritage Community, is instrumental in achieving the vital development of Smethport’s Heritage. The Route 6 Committee, in unison with the Chamber and interested citizen’s of Smethport, serves as the bridge that will merge Smethport’s heritage into a viable economic future, while maintaining the social integrity of the community that is rooted in its traditional values.
