Mission

The Sanbornton Fire Department, exists because the community has recognized the need for specially trained and equipped personnel to be available to come to the aid of members and visitors of the community at such times that their lives, health and / or property may be in danger due to natural or manmade emergencies. It is our mission to take every reasonable effort to save their lives and property.

Emergency Medical Services exist as an integral part of the Fire Department to carry out the mission of saving lives. Specifically, it becomes the duty of EMS to reduce morbidity and mortality. That is,to lessen the physiological impact of illness and injury on an individual, hence reducing the needless loss of life.

Vision

The Sanbornton Fire Department’s vision is one of continuous improvement through learning. Accordingly, we will need the honesty to acknowledge that there is need for improvement, the patience and determination to enhance unceasingly the quality of the Sanbornton Fire Department, and the commitment from all members of the Department to make this vision a reality.

The Sanbornton Fire Department will understand and respond to the needs of the community. We will endeavor to raise our goals to new heights so that we may realize our full potential. The Department will provide and environment in which members will embrace civic virtues: personal mastery, moral and ethical behavior, aesthetic understanding and a belief in one’s obligations to family and community. Sanbornton Fire Department members will be encouraged to appreciate and understand the merits of the free enterprise system. Members will prepare for professional work by acquiring an education which includes a firm foundation in the science of fire fighting and a need to comprehend, use and influence technology.

All members of the Department will understand their role in fulfilling the vision and in improving their performance significantly and regularly. The administration will have the resources, freedom, and responsibility necessary to achieve this improvement. We will continually assess progress and formulate plans for advancement. We will commit to lifelong learning.

The Sanbornton Fire Department’s quest for continuous improvement through learning will require sustained and unflagging commitment by its constituents. The Department will provide the resources necessary to foster an environment where learning is encouraged and respected, interdependence is nurtured and appreciated and the physical and mental capabilities of all are developed.
