About Us :

Salisbury-Elk Lick School District rests atop the highest mountains in Pennsylvania in scenic Somerset County. The small-town atmosphere and beautiful landscape provide a unique way of life to the proud people of Salisbury Borough and surrounding communities. Residents of Salisbury maintain the strong community values of a small town, while they are only a short drive from the urban offerings of both Pittsburgh and Washington D.C. The large Amish Community here shares in many of our local traditions including: Farmers Market, Maple Sugar Events, The Springs Folk Festival and Salisbury Days. With only 716 residents, Salisbury is a uniquely close-knit and personal town.Rural small town life also has many recreational advantages. Canoeing, rafting, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, skiing, and camping are only a few of the activities enjoyed at the beautifully maintained State Forest lands, parks, lakes and rivers of lower Somerset County.

Perhaps the greatest advantage to small town life is the personal attention each student in the school district is able to receive. With an 11:1 student/teacher ratio, Salisbury-Elk Lick School District has been touted as one of "the 100 Best Schools in the Nation" by Offspring. With over one million dollars in recent upgrades, the district also boasts the newest technology and constantly improving facilities for the students. Dedication to keeping strong community values while pursuing current advancements in education and technology is not an easy task. The Salisbury-Elk Lick School District strives to achieve these two goals in an effort to keep education among the highest priorities in Salisbury, Somerset County.
