The purpose of Rushville Elementary School is to provide all students with an appropriate education in an encouraging, supportive, and friendly environment while developing positive emotional growth for self-esteem and leadership. The staff, with the support of parents and community, accepts the challenge for the instruction, evaluation, and development of each student.

RES is an elementary school serving students in the Rush County School Corporation. Our building opened in 1974 and currently houses 840 students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Our class sizes range from 18 through 28 depending on grade level.

We offer many ways for parents to take an active part in their child's education. Textbook and curriculum review, our Parent Teacher Group and volunteer services are just a few activities that parents can help with.

The curricular program at RES builds foundations for understanding in the ever-expanding environment of each child. Organized areas of subject matter are drawn upon as convenient references for the orderly development of skills and ready selection of material for solving problems. Instruction in the various subject matter areas includes: language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, health, music, art, and physical fitness. The teaching of thrift, conservation, citizenship, character, morality, and responsibility are also included in the elementary program.

Our student population has a wide range of abilities and ethnic groups. African American ,Japanese and Spanish students are an integral part of our student population. Some of these students are supported by our ESL (English Second Language) instructor.

Finally, our Boys and Girls Club of Rushville is directly across the street. This facility offers before and after school programs during the school year. In the summer, the Club is open all day. We hope you enjoy browsing our site and hope you will call if you have additional questions.
