The Friends of Whittemore T/A The Roving Nature Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose sole purpose is environmental education,to stimulate awareness and understanding of the total environment- natural, altered, human and historic - among people of all ages; to develop a sense of responsibility for the care and wise use of our natural resources.

The home office is located on the grounds of Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary in Oldwick, NJ.

The Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary is located on Rockaway Road in Oldwick. The Sanctuary is a 200-acre facility dedicated to environmental education. The Sanctuary was bequeathed to the Township by Mrs. Helen A. Whittemore and is governed by a Board of Trustees. The park has 11 miles of trails for hiking, dog walking and horseback riding. The trails traverse mainly wooded areas with wetlands, ravines and hilly terrain. The Rockaway River flows along the southern border of the property.

Roving Nature Center Programs offered at the Sanctuary include but are not limited to: summer nature day camps, maple sugaring, year-round public programs, in-school programs and school field trips, children's garden quilt, birthday parties and scouting programs.
