The first-ever Rosedale Strawberry Festival was held in 1960.  At that time, Rosedale was located in the center of the second-largest strawberry-producing area in Indiana.  

Settlement of the area known as Rosedale began in the early 1800s.  It was named after Chauncey Rose who settled the area in 1819.
