About Us:

The Renaissance Revival, based in Storrs, Connecticut, has been delighting its audiences since 1974. Specializing in vocal music of the 15th and 16th centuries, and performing in period costumes designed and created by its members, the ensemble offers at least three programs each year. The popular annual Christmas concert and an early spring sacred concert are offered in the acoustically rewarding sanctuary of Saint Joseph Church in Willimantic, CT. We are a non-profit organization devoted to performing a cappella music with a predominantly Renaissance flavor.

The By-Laws of the Renaissance Revival describes the ensemble's official purpose thus:

To promote the performance of vocal music.
To enhance knowledge and enjoyment of music spanning several centuries.
To benefit the Storrs community as well as Eastern Connecticut.

The group comprises sixteen singers, and is led by a professional choral director. Although some of the singers have formal music and voice training, they are primarily experienced amateur singers who come together to share their love of choral music of the Renaissance. Members of the group sometimes accompany performances with guitar, lute, recorders, or percussion.

The Renaissance Revival has been featured in the Trinity College Summer Concert Series; the "Suites Before Lunch" series at Immanuel Congregational Church in Hartford; the "Music on a Sunday Afternoon" Series at the William Benton Museum of Art at The University of Connecticut; the Music Series of Center Congregational Church in Manchester; the Concert Series at South United Methodist Church in Manchester; and the Pierpont Music Series at North Haven Congregational Church. The ensemble has also performed at First Church of Christ Congregational in Glastonbury; Storrs Congregational Church at The University of Connecticut; Saint Brigid Church in Amherst, Massachusetts; and the Higgins Armory in Worcester, Massachusetts; as well as at numerous private celebrations across New England.
