The peeled pole and hand split shake replica of the Huckleberry Mine stamp mill (ore crushing) building was the first in the museum complex. Isaac Barner, Bureau of Land Management archaeologist, retrived the rare mill from the gold mine and arranged a donation to the society. The mill parts are restored and the mill will become operable.
In front is the steel framework of the museum. The building was donated by M.A. Hanna Co., and relocated from Nickel Mt. by Ray Boyd & Son, Inc.
The exterior of the museum was completed and a two story storage-restoration building constructed in 1991. The interiors were finished by 1993, resulting in an August preview opening. A caretaker's home and native store Boyle Memorial were added, and landscaping commenced in 1994. All participants may be proud in helping preserve the rapidly disappearing history of the Umpqua Valley.
