Osteen Elementary School

500 Doyle Road
407-688-9555

Osteen Elementary is located in a rural area near Deltona, Florida, midway between Daytona Beach and Orlando. In 1886 the first Osteen school was founded. The current school has been at the present site since 1983. Since becoming a suburban school, serving the Osteen and Deltona communities, the school has experienced phenomenal bursts of growth. There have been times when the enrollment exceeded 1600 students. As a result of school construction in the area, we have maintained 710-730 enrollments over the past five years.

Osteen currently serves 825 students in Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth grade. Our educational program includes regular as well as special education classes. Most of our students ride the school bus to school. Some students ride their bikes or walk, and some students are driven to school. An extended day program is provided at our facility, which serves our students in the morning and afternoon.

Approximately seventy percent of our students are from the Deltona area and thirty percent are Osteen residents. Our school mobility rate is twenty-four percent. Our student population is racially and culturally diverse: 76 percent are white, 12 percent are Hispanic, eight percent are African American and the remaining four percent are Asian, American Indian or multi-racial. Forty-two percent of our students receive free or reduced price meals which qualifies us for the additional funding assistance through the Title 1 Program. We have experienced a steady increase in our students identified as ESOL. This has resulted in our communications going home in Spanish as well as English.
