The following mission statement is the product of a consensus building process involving professional staff, school board members, parents, community members, business representatives, and students. It was adopted by the Old Forge Board of School Directors on December 20, 2000, at the monthly board meeting. The mission statement is:

Our mission as the Old Forge School District is to provide all students with opportunities to challenge and to maximize their potentials and to promote responsible citizenship.
