Founder, Bill Waters having gone home to be with the Lord in December 2004 has left us with the difficult decision of whether or not to continue the festival. The event was held in 2005 and 2006 and though we have wonderful remembrances from these, the hosting church, Oasis Christian Fellowship, has had to look closely at several issues and factors.Pastor Wil’s presence and energy in His Oasis cannot be overstated; He was its driving force, next to the Lord, of course. Wil’s absence these past two years has been profoundly felt. Some members of Oasis Christian Fellowship, including Wil’s wife, Julie, stepped up to fill the gap, but the task has proved to be imposing. Declining attendance and the resultant difficulty in covering the cost of hosting this ‘donation/free will’ style ministry has left us to conclude that it may be time to give His Oasis a rest. The church board spent the better part of the past year in prayer and discussion, while seeking counsel from other godly leaders before arriving at the decision to discontinue the event.I know for many of you this will be a disappointment and for that I am truly sorry. We don’t make this decision lightly, realizing that for some of you, His Oasis has been a beloved yearly tradition. We have left the door open” for a reorganized version of the event in the future, perhaps at a different location and under different leadership.
