Niangua Basin Prescribed Burn Association

PO Box 3252

The Niangua Basin Prescribed Burn Association (NBPBA) serves Camden, Laclede, Hickory and Dallas counties. The geography of NBPBA is dictated by the distance members are willing to travel. Organized in 2023, we have a growing membership of all ages, experience and knowledge. Under the technical advisement of the Missouri Department of Conservation and our technical advisors, we help land owners and land managers create a burn plan and conduct prescribed burns. Our Mission and Purpose is to provide the tools, training, education and resources to conduct prescribed burns in a safe and effective manner. We also seek opportunities to educate the public regarding the benefits of fire in the enviroment.

Prescribed burning is the key land management tool used to restore and maintain native plant communities to their former diversity and productivity for livestock production and wildlife habitit. PBA's are equipped with a trailer of necessary burn erquipment and operate on a neightbor-helping-neighbor system. The annual dues are $25 with the expectation to help with two burns per fiscal year. Helping can be aligned with various levels of physical abilities.  From map distribution, driving the UTV w/sprayer, watch the fire breaks, or a number of other interesting roles during a burn. Volunteers and youth are also welcome to particpate, with adult supervision. The job is so much easier with help and the right tools!!
