Juvenile Justice - NHS Human Services Juvenile Justice programs feature innovative services designed to meet the unique needs of both dependent and delinquent youths. A continuum of services is available on a 168 acre campus in rural Pennsylvania featuring open and secure options as well as specialized initiatives providing opportunities for adjudicated youth to receive therapeutic care and learn the skills necessary to become productive members of their community. Gender-Responsive Principles focusing on the unique needs of girls, are featured in all Juvenile Justice Programs and specialized Sex Offender Treatment is available for youth who present with sexually acting out behaviors. Vocational training, community service and restitution opportunities are an important focus and incorporated into activities throughout the Juvenile Justice Programs.

Education - The NHS Schools are licensed private academic schools that combine behavioral expertise and educational services for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders and students with emotional support needs in grades K-12 (ages 5-21). NHS believes that merging behavioral expertise with a comprehensive educational program creates a stable, nurturing environment that provides students with confidence and skills to reach their fullest potential. The first NHS School opened in 2005. Since 2005, NHS has opened 17 schools and serve 350 students in 107 different school districts, and 39 counties across Pennsylvania.
The goal of the NHS Schools is to provide academic instruction while increasing each child's environmental engagement with a focus on the development of social skills, life skills and pro-social behaviors. A student's success is demonstrated and measured through personal growth and learning, development of peer relationships, and participation in their environment and community activities. The academic curriculum is determined by the student's IEP goals, home school district and academic assessments. Ancillary services such as Speech and Occupational Therapy are available through the NHS School as identified in the student's IEP.
The NHS Schools believe in preparing students for life after school. Therefore, the NHS Transition Program starts the minute the students enroll. Teachers develop transition lessons for students ages 5-21 to assist in building the skills necessary to advocate for their needs and achieve individualized goals in the following areas: post-secondary education, job/career placements, independent living and community involvement. Students are given the opportunity to further develop their skills through transition opportunities such as career exploration field trips, job shadowing, lessons at our Skill Development Centers, on-site simulated work environments and community job placements.

Therapeutic Foster Care - NHS has 16 specialized treatment foster care programs providing a home like environment for children with behavioral and emotional problems who cannot live with their own families. The Therapeutic Family Care program is designed to provide a unique treatment environment for children between the ages of 3 and 10. The children in need of this level of care are typically referred by Children and Youth, Mental Health/Mental Retardation or Juvenile Probation agencies.
