About:

Newnan Crossing Elementary was established in 1990 and served 940 students for the 2013 school year. Since redistricting seven years ago, our school has added 294 new students.  In 2012 we were recognized as a Title I Distinguished School – for making AYP (adequate yearly progress) for nine years in a row because of our CRCT scores and we received the high honor for our CRCT scores by receiving the  Platinum Award in the 2008 Single Statewide Accountability System.  The state has implemented new criteria for all schools called CCRPI (College Career Readiness Performance Index).  Our CCRPI score for 2012 was 86.9 which was above the State Average of 83.4 & School system Average of 85.2.  We ranked 7th of the 19 Coweta School System Elementary Schools.   Last year we sponsored Annual Title I Meetings/Open House, Science/Math Night, Safe Graduation, Academic Bowl, Veteran’s Day Program, Science Fair for 5th grade,  CRCT Night, Math/ Reading  Strategies Workshop, Homework/Time Management/Safety Workshop, Student Performances & End of Year Performances, Field Day, Spelling Bee, Beta Club, Chorus, Eagle News Team, Student of the Months, prizes for our Honor Roll recipients each 9 weeks, Classroom Attendance Awards, 5th Grade Luncheon, contributed 8055 items to our local can-a-thon, $3384 to the American Cancer Society and participated in Relay for Life, and contributed  to Meals on Weals for Coweta/Coins for Cupcakes. We received the Excellence Award for the Highest Student Attendance for 2nd, 4th and 6th Enrollment Period of all Coweta Elementary Schools.  Technology continues to be a focus at Newnan Crossing.  All classrooms are equipped with interactive boards (promethean boards).  In 2012, our school received the Build Your Dream ActivClassrooom Matching Grant from Promethean with PTO assistance and received two Activ slates and three sets of Activ Expression Learner (Student) Responders which are interactive with our Promethean Boards.  We are continuing our number of I-pads to increase and purchased an additional 26 I-pads which will be used for student instruction.  Also, I-pads were purchased to be used with our English Language Learners program.  Also, Mrs. Keri Davis and Mrs. Lisa Kula received the “donated Technology Items Grant” from Coweta Schools and received technology items to utilize in the classroom.
