Nevada Veterans Assistance League
The Nevada Veterans Assistance League, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, meets vital social, cultural, recreational, and psychological needs of residents at the Nevada State Veterans Home. Through NVAL’s actions, our residents acquire a sense of security, happiness, dignity, independence, and usefulness. However, it is the generosity of individuals, such as you, that make everything NVAL does possible!
Through our Resident Council, residents decide how they want to spend most of the funds raised through NVAL. In previous years, gifts to NVAL have made possible the purchase of gas BBQ grills, allowing our residents to celebrate holidays and special events on their neighborhood patios, just as they would if they were in their own homes. Residents have also enjoyed outings to see the Las Vegas 51’s, UNLV ball games, and numerous shows on the Strip. Support of NVAL has also enhanced the cultural lives of residents by covering the costs of attending many of our area’s museums, too.
In the coming year, NVAL hopes to not only continue to provide the financial assistance needed to continue with the activities and events mentioned above, but to also be able to increase the number of offerings for residents. NVAL cannot do this alone, however. In order to achieve these goals, we will need your help.
Gifts to NVAL can be directed to one of three areas, as follows:
• Resident Fund – Gifts to this fund are spent according to the wishes of the residents, through a voting process that takes place at Resident Council meetings.
• Endowment Fund – Gifts to this fund are combined and invested. The interest earned by these “pooled” gifts is available to be utilized as needed.
• Employee Fund – Gifts to this fund are used to sponsor “morale-boosting” events for the team caring for America’s heroes.
I hope you will consider NVAL worthy of your support. Whether you give $5 or $5000, your gift will truly make a difference in the lives of many of America’s heroes residing in our Home.
