Myhelan Cultural Arts Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization registered with the state of New Jersey as Myhelan Cultural Arts Alliance, serving the people of north central New Jersey. Composed of a small but competent staff and many dedicated volunteers, the mission of the Myhelan is to showcase the arts to the community and to raise the awareness of area residents, especially children, to the extraordinary artistic contributions of cultures from around the world, as well as to explore the value and role of the arts in American culture. We believe that through these experiences, perspectives about the arts and our world's cultures are shaped in new and positive ways.

Myhelan's mission is to infuse the arts into everyday life and to use the arts as a tool for building cultural understanding and community.

In the Lenape language, the word myhelan means "a gathering together of peoples." This name was chosen by the organization's founders not only to honor the people who first inhabited the hills and valleys of this region, but also to emphasize their hope that the organization would be a place of welcome, where community members could come together to share the creative journey and build strong ties to one another and to the wider world.
