Montgomery County Concert Band


The Montgomery County Concert Band was founded in April, 1995 by Stephen E.Frederick and Paul Ferla. Since its beginning the band has presented over 250 concerts for a variety of community celebrations, seasonal/park concerts and holiday events throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Our musicians and directors come from a variety of daily occupations and backgroundsvolunteering their time to prepare the various programs for the community.

The Band has performed at the PMEA State Conference in 2009 and 2014, and also performed at the ACB convention in 2014 and 2019. The MCCB has presented special benefit concerts for Lansdale Community Housing and Manna on Main Street as part of a community outreach program. The band also sponsors a side-by-side concert each year with a different area middle school band. In 2017 the Montgomery County Concert Band was awarded the prestigious Sudler Silver Scroll Award by the J.P. Sousa Foundation.

Repertoire is varied and ranges from standard and contemporary literature for bandto the Broadway stage, classical transcriptions, marches, and patriotic medleys. Featured soloists with the band have included Philadelphia Orchestra principal tuba Carol Jantsch, trombonist Scott Shelsta, jazz saxophonist Andrew Neu and outstanding local musicians Peter Neu, Dave Orehowsky, Dave DiValentino, Anthony Triplett, Jeff Miller, and from the US Navy Band, Souderton native Marty Nau. Featured soloists from the band have been Jan Jochems, Allison Kershner, Dave O’Neill, Michael Langston and Ray Orehowsky.

Since 1999 the MCCB and the Borough of Lansdale have collaborated as an official “TubaChristmas International” site, bringing together over 70 tuba, sousaphone, euphonium and baritone players from the tri-state area.

The band is self supported and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dependent entirely on donations from the public. Our formal concerts during the year are free to the public.
