The Township of Millcreek is a community consisting of a road system with 51.27 miles of state approved roadways, 18.25 state and 33.03 township road wit ha population of 2,921 as reported by the 2000 census. The largest section of Millcreek Township is the village of Newmanstown, which was founded in 1741. Newmanstown was formerly known as Newbury. Mr. Walter Newman and his wife, Elizabeth, came here from Ireland in 1741 and purchased two hundred and thirty four acres of land from the proprietors of the province of Pennsylvania on October 30, 1741. Other settlement areas in the township are Stricklerstown, and Millbach.

Millcreek Township is known as an agricultural area. The agricultural district consists of approximately half of the township. Farming is a very viable industry in the township because of the rich limestone soil. The South Mountain, which is the ecologically senstiving zoning district in Millcreek Township, is the major source of public water for Newmanstown as well as the surrounding communities of Richland, Robesonia, and Wernersville. The conservation and protection of this distric is extremely important.
