3922 West Main Street
717-935-5574

Mifflin County Mennonite Historical Society is the outgrowth of five years of planning and negotiating by a handful of dedicated Mennonites and Amish, descendants of early settlers to Mifflin County. The Heritage Center doors were opened to the public, October 1988. Housed in an old brick bank building, the facility has a humidity-controlled book room, a reading/display room, and a reception/display room on the first floor. The second floor is used for storage.

Resources for research and services offered by the Society are

A collection of older and current books on Anabaptist history and thought

A growing collection of genealogy books, cemetery directories and obituaries

A collection of artifacts from Mennonite and Amish families

A collection of local newspapers, pamphlets and other publications telling the Mifflin County story

A quarterly newsletter

guided tours, focusing on Big Valley history, and

taking requests for information from persons unable to come to the Heritage Center.
