Mentone United Methodist Church

120 East Main Street
574-353-7898

This church heritage dates back to the time when Circuit Riders first crossed the continent to bring the Good News to the frontier. Our church began in 1840, when the Lee Appointment was established by the Methodist Episcopal Church that met in the house of Dr. Richard Lee who lived just east of the present site of Mentone. Soon after, a log church, known as Morris Chapel, was built at the point which is now the southwest corner of Main and Franklin Streets. The log church was afterward succeeded by a frame building on the same site which served the purpose of the church until 1880.
