Mello's Farm Stand
We are a family farm. Our children, Sarah, 9, and Cooper, 5, enjoy helping us on the farm. We currently manage approximately 30 acres of farm land in Tiverton and Little Compton, RI. Some of the crops we grow include sweet corn, tomatoes, green and yellow squash, leaf lettuce, raspberries, and pumpkins, among many others. Although we are not currently certified organic, we use organic growing methods. We also practice sustainable agriculture, including soil conservation, crop rotation, and biodegradable weed control.
We are proud to provide the community with fresh, local produce. In addition to participating in several local farmers markets including the Sakonnet Growers Market in Tiverton, we also market our produce at our own Mello's Farm Stand on Boyd's Lane in Portsmouth .
-Full Share (feeds 3 to 6 people) Between 10 and 30 pounds of produce a week for 19 weeks $475 per season ($25 per week)
-Single Share (feeds 1 to 3 people) Between 6 and 20 pounds of produce a week for 19 weeks $285 per season ($15 per week)
-Shares include: once-a-week distribution of fresh produce opportunity to buy additional produce at our farm stand at pick-up time
-A sample of what produce to expect
-In June, a single share may get in a week:,1 bag of lettuce or spring mix 1 pound zucchini and yellow squash ¾ pound sweet peas 1 bunch baby turnips or beets 1 bunch radishes ½ pound green onions 1 bunch broccoli 1 head cabbage or kale
-In September, a single share may get in a week,½ dozen sweet corn 1 ½ pounds tomatoes 1 or 2 cucumbers 2-3 red or green peppers 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes 1-2 eggplant 1 native muskmelon or cantelope in-season fruit (e.g., pears, peaches).
