HISTORY

Mayer was founded in 1881 by Joseph Mayer who established a store, saloon and Wells Fargo stage line between Prescott and Phoenix. The historic red brick school house built in 1916 is still in use as the District Office for the Mayer Unified School District.

Goals

- It is the goal of the governing board to attempt to establish conditions that will assist the district in the effort to attract and retain the best possible staff.

- It is the goal of the governing board to build better working relationships and establish efficient channels of communication that encourage the sharing of positive information with the students, staff, parents and community.

- It is the goal of the governing board to establish the most effective system of instruction in order that students of the district are able to demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics.

- It is the goal of the governing board to develop and implement strategies to eliminate declining enrollment and create the financial resources to accomplish all goals and objectives.
