Mason county SEARCH and RESCUE(SAR)/EXPLORER SEARCH and RESCUE(ESAR) work with the Sheriff's office to find and help hikers and others as directed by the Sheriff's office. SAR/ESAR is a voluntary group of people who give their time and effort to help the community. The group is a 501c3 unit and all our funds come from donations from the community. SAR is comprised of ESAR, k-9,mobile, dive, and Base/Support units. ESAR has young adults who do most of the searching in the mountains and the lowlands with adults in supporting roles.
