About Us:

School districts are a reflection of the communities they serve.  We serve a very diverse community comprised of a large military and federal installation, a substantial rural area and a suburban environment of medium-sized cities and towns.  Our 104-square mile district is just 28 miles east of St. Louis, Mo. in southwestern Illinois.  The Metro-East Region where we reside offers plentiful residential options, outstanding cultural attractions and great transportation amenities.

District #19 is a unique district with an outstanding academic reputation.  Our challenge is to maintain the current culture of excellence while continuing to move forward.  With the support of a dedicated staff, a supportive community and terrific students, we will continue the district's outstanding performance.  Our goal is to remain an acknowledged leader in public education in the southwestern Illinois region and one of the best in the state.

Our job is to help develop a community of learners in partnership with parents and guardians.  Today's students - as maybe no other generation before them - must  be adaptable.  The amount of information available to them and the methods in which they are expected to use it changes rapidly and grows exponentially.  As technology evolves, the world changes - sometimes in the blink of an eye.  Our challenge is to continue to improve programs and ensure their relevance for today's students.  Our schools, as Daniel Pink states, "must prepare our students for their future, not our past."
