Our goal is to ensure that everyone who enters our building finds a welcoming and pleasant climate. We offer several academic, social and recreational programs both during and after school for our students and parents and we have several partnerships with community and business organizations. Our Second Step program offers both social and behavioral lessons and activities for all students, which enhance life long learning skills for all students. This program is the major reason for the success of our students in both the academic and social areas.

Our staff, students and parents are to be commended for their hard work and dedication in working all year to prepare our students for the PSSA. The scores have arrived from last school year and I am proud to announce that we met or exceeded in every category of the PSSA. Marcus Hook has met AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) for the third consecutive year. Great job to everyone, as I know we will work hard again this school year to achieve all of our PSSA goals. Our Reading Program will continue to provide quality service, as we have 4 highly qualified Reading Specialists and Title 1 Assistants that work with our students. The District offers effective programs that enhance the Language Arts Skills of all students, such as; Kid-Writing, Guided Reading, Writers Workshop and the100 Book Challenge program that are implemented each and every day at Marcus Hook School.

The District has moved forward with wonderful programmatic changes that will certainly have a positive impact on our students. Our Language Arts/Reading program has changed, as well as the role of our Reading Specialists to better meet the needs of our students. Our elementary report card will look different beginning this year, as it is directly aligned with the District’s curriculum. Our 3rd & 4th grade students will now be assessed in Reading and Math on a quarterly basis utilizing the “4 Sight Assessments.” Our IST process will now have 3 Tiers to better meet each child’s needs.I am very proud to be the principal of the Marcus Hook Elementary School and proud to serve the students, staff, parents and our community. I am also very excited about the programmatic changes we are implementing, as this will better serve our students.
