Mission:

The mission of the Superintendent's Office is to coordinate, communicate, and support the requirements, goals, and mission of the school community.

Maine School Administrative District No. 6 is currently the largest SAD in the State of Maine and the third largest school system in our State. Our district services the towns of Buxton, Hollis, Limington, Standish, and Frye Island representing portions of York and Cumberland counties. Geographically, the District covers approximately 182 square miles.

-There are approximately 4,000 students enrolled in our District.
-The District operates the largest public sector bus fleet in Maine.

-Our vehicles travel a total of over 5,300 miles each day.

-We serve breakfast to over 550 students daily and over 2,200 lunch meals with an additional 1,200 ala carte meals to students at the middle school and senior high schools, as well as selected elementary schools.

-There are 19 permanent buildings utilized by our District.

-The District has 660 employees. This includes teachers, aides, associates, monitors, administrators, secretaries, food service, bus drivers, mechanics, and custodians.

-Three major additions were constructed at three of our elementary schools in 1987 adding 31 additional classrooms, 3 art rooms, 2 cafeteria/multi-purpose rooms, 3 libraries, 3 kitchens, and office space.

-A three million dollar addition to the high school was completed in 1989.

-An 8.7 million dollar addition and renovation to the middle school was opened in September 1994. This building accommodates all district students in grades 6, 7, and 8.
