Lindbom Elementary School

1010 State Street
810-299-4400

In 1951 a new school opened and it was called West Elementary. It was built at 1010 State St. in the town of Brighton. The first principal of the school was Carl H. Lindbom. He was principal from 1951 until 1983. The school's name was changed to Carl H. Lindbom Elementary in 1976 after the principal. Commemorating his 25 years of service, the Brighton Board of Education surprised Mr. Lindbom by changing the name of West Elementary to Carl H. Lindbom Elementary.

Lindbom celebrates its 50th birthday. There were many activities including a parade to the Mill Pond, guest speakers, a school "hug" (students and teachers surrounded the school and gave it a big hug), the Micky Shine mural dedication and an evening party at the school. Special guests included Mrs. Carl H. Lindbom, her sister and daughter.
