The Knox County Barn Tour will take place on September 13 from 11 a.m to 6 p.m. Start the tour at 508 North McKenzie Street in Mount Vernon. The tour of five historic barns is a convenient 25 mile drive starting and ending in Mount Vernon.The tour has expanded with new events. An art competition with prizes is open to all ages. Traditional plein-air painters will also be at all five barns painting scenes and competing for a Knox County Art League prize.

After the tour from 6:30 to 9:00 pm Wayne King and the Hoedowners will appear at a free square dance at the historic Round Hill Alpaca Farm. There will be a mum sale and two Knox County garden clubs will be having a 'Garden Garage Sale'.  Thomas Bland will be demonstrating metal sculpture technique in his studio at Hammersong Farm. The Knox County Agricultural Museum will have a display of antique implements. Enjoy live music, exhibitions, food, crafts, a quilt raffle, farm equipment modern and antique, animals, face painting, a model barn raising, hay rides and more. Attendance has doubled every year for this event since its beginning in 2008. In 2012  approximately 600 people visited 5 barns.  No barns have ever been repeated.  There has never been a charge for this event which is held to celebrate the cultural heritage of Knox County.  Any donations or proceeds from the event however go to further the mission of KCRF and toward the ongoing conservation of the historic IOOF Building at 112-114 South Main Street in Mount Vernon, the home and restoration project of KCRF.
