Kiwanis Club Of Vidalia

Post Office Box 1183

The Motto

"We build" is the motto under which Kiwanis has advanced and become widely known throughout the years.

History

The Vidalia Kiwanis Club was organized under dispensation in 1919. The Charter was presented by International authority January 5, 1921, there having been fifty Charter members. Over one hundred and fifty guests attended the official meeting at which the document was delivered. Since that time the club has carried out all tenets of the International office and has faithfully served as an unofficial Chamber of Commerce. Major objectives of the club have been to work along the line of establishing the Vidalia Tobacco market, better understanding between rural and urban communities, better farm programs and better civic government. Additionally, much good work has been accomplished in sponsoring city government plans for a sewage system, paving downtown sidewalks and streets, and clearing obstacles from traffic.
