Mission:

The mission of KIN Dance Company is to promote the art form of contemporary dance-theater, and to reach a broader audience by providing entertaining and thought provoking works that many times comment on our political and/or social environment. Through their cutting-edge choreography, the company's works include various styles and techniques presented in both serious and comical situations. This multi-ethnic dance company combines artists of varied nationalities and cultural influences to create an example of social harmonious diversity through dance & theater with the intention and hope to lessen social barriers.

About Us:

KIN Dance Company was established as a nonprofit organization in February of 1996. This multi-ethnic dance theater company combines the use of music, dance and theater with a wide range of styles and techniques. KIN presents work, which enlightens the heart, mind & soul and has become established as a prominent force within the dance community. Audiences all over have been drawn to the energy and chemistry of KIN’s dancers with their fluid, aggressive and sometimes jerky group motion. KIN Dance Company crosses borders between commercial and contemporary dance.
Some of the company’s highlights include a special appearance in “Vox Lumiere: The Hunchback of Notre Dame” at the John Anson Ford Amphitheater in Los Angeles and The Prince Theater in Philadelphia 2005, the Palm Desert Choreography Festival in April 2001, where both Frit & Frat were awarded the Grand Prize for Choreography; a sold-out run at Highways Performance Space in June 2000; a successful tour and performance at the Carver Center in San Antonio, Texas in May 2000; the very successful MEN: Dancing at the Ford Amphitheater in August 1998; a sold-out run at Highways Performance Space in August 1996; sold-out performances at the Keck Theater in February1996 and March 1997; a featured appearance on two tapings of The LA Thing which aired locally on KCAL Channel 9 in March 1996; and a performance at the 1995 Inner-City Games held at the Shrine Auditorium. The company also performed in November 1994 at the Black Choreographers Moving showcase in San Diego where both Frit and Frat were awarded with a certificate of appreciation from the county of San Diego for their outstanding efforts towards increasing the awareness of African-American influences on contemporary dance.
