About Us:

Kaleidoscope Pottery, located in Easthampton, Massachusetts is owned and operated by Evelyn Snyder. Evelyn started in 1992 as assistant to original founder Kathy Hibshman and then-partners Barry Schechter, Peter Feitner and  Christy Knox. The original studio was begun in Vermont circa. 1978, by Kathy.  Barry and Kathy moved the studio to Massachusetts and were joined in the 80's by Peter and Christy.  Kathy and Barry retired around 1993 and Christy and Peter moved on to other pursuits around 1998.

Current studio assistants to Evelyn are Anna Kubasek, Leah Purcell, and Marie Rosado.  We also get a lot of assistance from friends, family and our neighbors at One Cottage Street in Easthmpton, MA where our studio is located.

We strive to make pottery that is inspired by the natural world. All of our pottery is handmade from stoneware, and holds up to everyday use. It is dishwasher safe and can go in the oven (although you must not thermally shock stoneware or it will crack!  See our FAQs page for more details).

Please note that we are not a retail store with set hours. If you want to come visit please call ahead (at least a week in advance is best) or you may miss us (or catch us up to our elbows in production with our retail work packed in my van and parked in another town)!

We do have open studios twice yearly--in the spring and the first weekend in December (and occasionally at other times during the year). This is a great time to visit as the studio is set up for sales and there are some real bargains available.  Visit the web site for our open studios at www.cottagestreetstudios.com
